African Hydrogen Partnership (AHP) Establishes Representation in the U.S.

Beverly Hills (USA), Port Louis (Mauritius) – 27 June 2024

The African Hydrogen Partnership (AHP) is delighted to announce the establishment of its representation in the USA and the appointment of Mr. Ron R. Chevalier as its Leader.

Renewable hydrogen is a clean and versatile energy carrier that has the potential to play a major role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and transitioning to a sustainable energy future in Africa. Africa’s economies are growing and many regions in Africa have a strong potential for producing low-cost renewable hydrogen on site for expanding industries where hydrogen is an unavoidable necessity. The U.S. is dedicated to the development of green and natural hydrogen technologies and markets and it has the capacities and capabilities to support the development of hydrogen markets in Africa. A close cooperation between North America and the African continent is essential for expediting commercially viable hydrogen related developments in Africa.

Ron R. Chevalier, CEO at GH2Clean, LLC., and Leader of the AHP’s Representation in the U.S., stated,
“I am profoundly honored to lead the African Hydrogen Partnership’s representation in the United States. This strategic collaboration marks a pivotal moment in our mission to unlock the vast potential of renewable hydrogen as a cornerstone for sustainable development in Africa. By combining Africa’s rich renewable resources with the U.S.’s advanced technological expertise, we are poised to drive forward innovative hydrogen solutions that will spur economic growth, create jobs, and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our collective efforts will not only foster energy security but also pave the way for a cleaner, greener future for both continents. Together, we can achieve remarkable progress and make a lasting impact on the global energy landscape.”

Dr Innocent Uwuijaren, AHP Chairman, said,
“The United States is an important player in financing hydrogen projects due to its strong economy, supportive policy environment, and advanced technological capabilities. Africa has a rapidly growing energy demand, and hydrogen could help to meet this demand in a clean and sustainable way. Hydrogen will reduce Africa’s dependence on imported fossil fuels and improve its energy security. The United States could demonstrate its commitment to climate change mitigation and sustainable development by investing in hydrogen projects in Africa. The cooperation with a strong network of U.S. stakeholders would significantly contribute to the acceleration of hydrogen related developments in Africa. I am delighted that the AHP has established a representation in the U.S. and that Ron Chevalier is representing the AHP in North America. On behalf of the entire AHP Team, I congratulate Ron on his appointment and wish him every success in his new role.”
